Oversoulss

From time to time, I check sites like garage band, sound click etc. looking for new music. Boy, do I hear a lot of stuff that is hard to listen to.

Thankfully, I have latched onto some bands that are quite telented. The one I want to mention here is Oversoulss. These guys are a four mad band that rocks. A number of their songs can be downloaded from their website. They have a hard driving altrenative/progressive sound that is very refreshing.

While I immesely enjoy the work of guitarist Troy Stetina (I am going through one of his method books), what really sets this group apart for me is the drummer, Eddie Shapankse. He not only keeps the beat and fills in accordingly, he plays the drums. I would liken it to playing rhythm or lead. He always seems to be doing something, not haphazardly a la Keith Moon, but adding things that make the music much more enjoyable. His unique style adds a fresh dimension to the music.

This band would be good with a "normal" drummer, but his style takes them to another level. He plays how a drummer should play
Check 'em out.

Prophesy Fulfilled

“Your children like olive plants all around your table. Behold, thus shall the main be blessed who fears the Lord.” Psalm 128:3-4
I saw this happen right before me. I was hulling the strawberries, probably listening to music. And one by one, they came and sat around the table. Just sat and chatted. The preceding verse came to me and Margaret was kind enough to snap the picture.

It was an incredibly great day.

Picking Crew

We went to pick strawberries a few weeks ago. Here is the crew. Evelyn, Sonja, Joe, Sam, Margaret, Kathryn, Suzanne, and Molly. We arrived before the heat did and picked about 16 quarts. Pickins’ were slim this year, but we still had fun nonetheless.

Emily, for you

This is one of those rare harmonious moments that I thought you would appreciate. The three girls had a bunch of their Barbie stuff out on the deck playing nicely and Sonja is reading a book with mom, and turning the pages of course. She also obscounded Jon's bottle. Anyhoo, hope you like them.

Here are a few more pictures from Emerson Park. I'm still working on the photo delivery, so be patient. Of course it's taking more time than I want. Computers have a tendancy to do that. Try the link below to look at the new photos.

Sunday July 3rd we went to Emerson Park on Owasco lake to watch the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. It was very well done. They covered Susa, Gershwin,Tchaikovsky, and others. A few things I thought were neat. They added a piano the orchestra, especially for the Gershwin pieces. The runs in classical music are amazing. If you listen you can hear where modern music comes from. And lastly, the citizen soldiers during the tribute to the armed forces. Very appropriate. A bunch of pictures to follow.
